WELCOME TO DERBYSHIRE DALES CVS
What is a CVS? A Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) supports, promotes and develops local voluntary and community action.
Here at Derbyshire Dales CVS we offer local voluntary and community groups access to facilities such as equipment loan and hire; we advise on issues such as trustees and committees; developing policies; looking for funding for your group and signposting to advice on other issues such as getting a Criminal Records Bureau check.
We employ a Community Development Worker who works in a variety of locations in the Dales. This role develops a variety of opportunities for local people, including families. We also have a Health Trainer in Matlock whose role is to work with the local community to support individuals and groups who want to make healthier choices and lifestyle changes such as stopping smoking, increasing physical activity, improving diet and reducing alcohol intake - unfortunately the Health Trainer project will be coming to an end at the end of May 2012.
Last Autumn (2011) we began running a new programme commissioned by Derbyshire Dales District Council Community Housing called the Great Escape Project. The scheme is to initially run as a pilot, and aims to support people living in supported housing in the Derbyshire Dales. The project consists of two strands: 1. Enabling access to leisure facilities across the district for a reduced rate of £1 per session including gym, swim and other classes. A person can visit up to two times per week at any of the four leisure centres in the Derbyshire Dales. 2. Provision of an enhanced signposting service that will help people access activities and opportunities within the Derbyshire Dales.
