WELCOME TO DERBYSHIRE DALES CVS
What is a CVS? A Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) supports, promotes and develops local voluntary and community action.
Here at Derbyshire Dales CVS we offer local voluntary and community groups access to facilities such as equipment loan and hire; we advise on issues such as trustees and committees; developing policies; looking for funding for your group and signposting to advice on other issues such as getting a Criminal Records Bureau check.
We manage a project called Signpost which is a confidential information and support service for anybody living in the High Peak, Derbyshire Dales or Chesterfield who is under 18 or who has a child under 18. Call 01629 810900 or email signpost@ddcvs.org.uk for more information about the project as a whole or to get support and advice for families in the Dales or High Peak. Families in the Chesterfield area should call 01246 554699.
We employ a Community Development Worker who works on the Hurst Farm estate in Matlock. This role develops a variety of opportunities for families such as healthy eating courses, breastfeeding support, family IT courses and self esteem workshops, mostly taking place at the Hurst Farm Community Centre. We also have a Health Trainer in this area whose role is to work with the local community to support individuals and groups who want to make healthier choices and lifestyle changes such as stopping smoking, increasing physical activity, improving diet and reducing alcohol intake.
