Update on Social Prescribing at DDCVS

The Trustees at the Derbyshire Dales Council for Voluntary Service have taken the decision to end the contract to deliver Social Prescribing with the South Dales Primary Care Network.

This decision is not one that has been taken lightly.  The operating environment for Derbyshire Dales CVS is more financially challenging that it has ever been.  Therefore, we need to re-focus on our core purpose and the CEO and team must focus on our New Strategic Transformation Plan, otherwise the future existence of the DDCVS is at risk.

The Trustees have considered the contract, and its conclusions include that it doesn’t fit with the charitable objects of the organisation, the need to channel resources into a new Strategic Transformation Plan, to concentrate on the sustainability of the organisation and to minimise risks to the organisation.

We will continue to deliver social prescribing to clients who have already been accepted, until the end of the notice period, after which the service delivery will end, the last day of delivery will be 31st March 2026.

We have been proud to have had such a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our clients, the reductions in GP appointments and hospital admissions and the reductions in fit notes issued, during our delivery of the service for the past 5 years.

We would like to thank the clients and teams in the Primary Care Network and wish them all the best for the future.
