NCVO SUSTAINABLE PARTNERS PROGRAMME

14-04-2008

High Peak CVS offers workshops and training as part of the NCVO Programme

Invitation to participate in training through the:

 NCVO ‘SUSTAINABLE PARTNERS PROGRAMME’ –

and help support your local groups to become more  FINANCIALLY SUSTAINABLE

High Peak CVS has been chosen as one of two rural Sustainable Partners under the NCVO Sustainable Funding Project’s ‘Sustainable Partners’ Programme.

We would very much like you and staff from your organisation to get involved in this scheme, so that you and the organisations you advise and support can all benefit and become more financially sustainable.

What’s on offer and how can you get involved?

The Sustainable Partners programme comprises of a package of 3 high quality workshops and training courses delivered by staff from the NCVO Sustainable Funding Project. Along with this is a small pot of funding to build on the resources provided by NCVO and produce locally appropriate support materials. (This could be for use by infrastructure or frontline organisations.)

Here’s what’s on offer:

‘Train the trainer’ – a 1-day workshop designed specifically for development workers and funding advisors in Local Infrastructure Organisations to equip them with skills and information to enable them to deliver sustainable funding events and workshops themselves, tailored to the needs of the local community.

 Wednesday, 30th April 2008, 10am – 4pm, Medway Centre, Bakewell

Cost (including lunch and excellent NCVO resources to take away) = £40

Special offer: only £30 per person if 2 attend from the same organisation – but there are only 20 places so book early!

‘Introduction to Sustainable Funding’ – a 1-day workshop providing an overview of sustainable funding: it looks at the ingredients which contribute to an organisation’s financial sustainability, and offers options on how to identify and attract new sources of income including generating income through trading goods and services.

This day is aimed at ‘frontline’ organisations and focuses on the early stages of the learning curve – it seeks to give people the awareness, understanding, enthusiasm and information to think further.

Tuesday, 24th June 2008, Agricultural Business Centre, Bakewell

Cost (including lunch and parking permit) = £30

Special Offer: only £25 per person if two people attend from the same organisation – bring a trustee!

'Getting Ready for Enterprise’ – a 2-day course for those organisations thinking about developing a trading activity. The course provides information and tools to enable participants to get started, taking them through the key stages on the route to generating income from trading goods and services. The Sustainable Funding Project has developed this course in conjunction with Cass Business school at City University, London.

October / November 2008 – Date, venue and cost to be confirmed

Here’s how we’d like you to be involved:

  • Please encourage staff in your organisation to attend the ‘Train the trainer’ workshop on 30th April
  • Please promote the ‘Introduction to Sustainable Funding’ workshop on 24th June to your local frontline organisation via newsletters, training programmes, websites, e-bulletins and networking events. (If you’d like help with wording for flyers or blurb, get in touch.) There are 50 places available for this workshop.
  • Please encourage a member of your staff to get involved in a local ‘Sustainable Partners Forum’ and participate in identifying what support resources are needed locally.

We intend developing a forum of interested LIO staff after the initial ‘Train the Trainer’ workshop, and are offering to cover time and travel costs for staff to meet to discuss additional resource needs and ideas.

Note on the NCVO Sustainable Funding Project and the ‘Sustainable Partners Programme’

NCVO’s Sustainable Funding Project has been running for about 6 years. It aims to support voluntary and community organisations to become more financially sustainable through better strategic planning and financial management, and by exploring a range of income diversification options.

Their ‘Sustainable Partners Programme’ is running 2006-2009 as a means of cascading their ‘message’ to VCOs at a local level. The idea is that they work with 15 ‘Sustainable Partner’ local infrastructure organisations across the country to deliver a series of training sessions and develop other locally appropriate support materials.
