CHIEF EXECUTIVE REQUIRED FOR VILLAGE AID

Village Aid is small international development charity based in Bakewell, Derbyshire. Village Aid has been running effective programmes with rural partner organisations in Africa since 1989, and currently work in five West African countries as well as delivering a global education campaign in the UK. The Chief Executive post is full-time with a salary of £31,000 per annum. This will be a demanding role, but it comes at an exciting time for the organisation.
The candidate
The role
The successful candidate will manage a small and dedicated team of staff. You will lead on the development and implementation of the strategic plan for Vilage Aid's work in Africa and the UK. You will bring to the role a knowledge of different approaches to fundraising, and you will lead on the development of an integrated fundraising strategy. You will liaise closely with the Board in ensuring that Village Aid is working in line with its mission and values, and you will ensure that Village Aid is performing effectively in line with financial plans and programme delivery targets.
You will have:
skills in fundraising and financial planning
skills in motivating a team of experienced individuals and building on their strengths
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the organization in a range of settings
Experience in working in partnership with others with skills in influencing and building effective working relationships
An interest in working on development programmes in rural Africa
Ability to innovate in response to a fast changing environment
This is predominantly a UK based role, but you should be passionate about West Africa and its development needs.
