CHARITY COMMISSION CONSULTS ON NEW LEGAL STRUCTURE

As many of you will be aware, the Charity Commission is currently in the process of developing a new legal structure for incorporated charities to be known as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). This will give charities the option of becoming incorporated by the Charity Commission, rather than having to be registered with both Companies House and the Charity Commission is currently the case.
The Commission has now launched a public consultation about the new structure.
We would encourage anyone who is already incorporated or is considering incorporation to have a look at the information about this at www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/third_sector/consultations/current_consultations/cio.aspx.
The consultation closes on 10th December.
