MORE ABOUT DDCVS

A Potted History

Derbyshire Dales CVS was set up in 2001 with core funding from what was then the Community Fund. Derbyshire Dales District Council offered us three rooms – in lieu of funding - in the District Council Offices on Bath Street in Bakewell and we employed 2 half time Chief Officers, 1 full-time Development Worker and 1 full-time Support Services Worker.

Come February 2012 we employ 7 members of staff (5.4 full-time equivalent) covering our core functions – that is to support voluntary and community activity across the Derbyshire Dales. Our main office is at the Agricultural Business Centre in Bakewell and we have the use of a meeting room with the Volunteer Centre Derbyshire Dales, at Ashbourne. Our Community Development Worker is based at the Hurst Farm Community Centre in Matlock.

DDCVS also works in partnership with local government and other agencies to shape the delivery of services. Partnerships help to ensure that we have a coherent and co-ordinated approach to tackling local needs.

Partnership work has recently included being involved the Peak Park’s Live and Work Rural Programme, the Local Strategic Partnership, Third Sector Support for Derbyshire (3D), the Leader Local Action Group, the Southern Derbyshire Health and Social Care Forum and the Community Involvement Network for St. Oswald’s Hospital in Ashbourne.

DDCVS is an independent Charity (number 1093087) and a Company Limited by Guarantee (Company number 4428280). The organisation is managed by a voluntary Board of Trustees who currently meet 5 times a year in Bakewell. If you are interested in learning more about our Board of Trustees please contact Neil Moulden, Chief Executive Officer. Tel 01629 812154.
